Q: WHAT IS ADDICTION?

A: There are many misconceptions about addiction. Addiction changes the brain physically which impairs the ability to control behavior. It is NOT a choice and recovery takes immense effort and support.

Q: WHAT ARE THE DIFFERENT PROGRAMS AND LEVELS OF CARE THAT YOU OFFER?

A: There are three different levels of care offered at Changes.

  • Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) – 6 hours a day

  • Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) – 3 hours a day

  • Outpatient Program (OP) – 1-3 hours per week

Q: WHAT TYPE OF HEALTH INSURANCE PLANS DO YOU ACCEPT?

A: We accept most PPO insurance plans. At this time, we do not accept any HMO or EPO plans, Medicare, Medi-Cal and Medicaid. For more information or to verify your benefits, please fill out our Verification of Benefits Form here or call (805) 883-1155.

Q: HOW LONG IS YOUR PROGRAM?

A: Due to individualized therapeutic treatment, the length of stay is different for every client. Each client’s length of stay is determined by their individual medical necessity and level of care.

Q: WHAT DOES AN EXAMPLE WEEK OF THE PROGRAM LOOK LIKE?

A: Clients attend a variety of group therapy sessions throughout the day and are scheduled to see their primary therapist at least once a week. We have an optional psychiatrist who meets with our clients once a week. We offer a variety of dual-diagnosis based groups in addition to expressive therapy including art, music, yoga, and meditation.

Q: DO YOU ACCEPT CLIENTS THAT HAVE OTHER FORMS OF ADDICTION BUT NOT SUBSTANCE AND/OR ALCOHOL ABUSE?

A: Unfortunately, we do not at this time.

Q: DO YOU SUPPORT INVOLVEMENT IN RECOVERY GROUPS OUTSIDE OF CHANGES?

Q: Not only do we support involvement but we also encourage it. Community building groups such as 12-step programs, SMART Recovery, and Refuge Recovery are an important part of the process.
