Jean Johns recently joined Changes as an intern drug and alcohol counselor while completing her training in the Alcohol and Drug Addiction Program at Santa Barbara City College. Jean considers herself a Santa Barbara native since moving here from Los Angeles in 1960. Jean raised her five children here and even though she lived in Ashland, Oregon a few years, Santa Barbara has always been her home.
She has many fruitful careers behind her. Jean has been Santa Barbara Real Estate Broker for over forty years. Some of those years in Ashland, Oregon where she was a licensed Oregon Real Estate Broker involved in real estate development and sales and also co-owner of a successful women’s upscale clothing store.
Her busy life gave many happy returns, however, when she woke up on her 80th birthday in March of 2015, she was struck with an idea that she wanted to spend the rest of her life giving back to the recovery field and the gift that had been so generously given her forty-three years ago.
“I am happy to be a part of Changes and their commitment to make a difference in people’s lives.”
